Top 10 in Canada! – CBC’s Next Up!

This past year I competed in CBC’s Comedy Next Up challenge where the idea was to prove yourself as Canada’s next and best funny person. The challenge ran to all Canadians across Canada, even people in Stratford Ontario (I know what your thinking) and so I jumped in head first! The winner would get the opportunity to showcase their stuff at the Halifax comedy fest!

MEET THE TOP 10

This past year I competed in CBC’s Comedy Next Up competition where the idea was to prove yourself as Canada’s next up and coming Comedian. The challenge was open to all amateur Canadians across Canada, so I jumped in head first! The winner was awarded the opportunity to showcase their stuff at the Halifax ComedyFest!

After the initial first round of entry, it was a dream to be accepted into the competition and compete against others, but I definitely had my work cut out for me. Against all odds, or 99 other Comedians to be exact, I posted my best acts for Canada to see. The idea in the second round was to gather as many votes as I could. I had support from friends and family across Canada, the US and Europe! The top 10 Comedians with the most votes and approval from the judging panel would move on to a round of 10.

As a second challenge on the last day of CBC’s Next up I was tasked with coming up with a joke. Thought I’d add in a little Canadian flavour and a callback to my days in Stratford Ontario. Check It Out!

In the final round of competition, the top 10 comedians would be judged by some pretty famous folks (Canadian famous folks). Andrew Phung, Michelle Daily and Ali Hassan were the judges and they would decide who moved on to Halifax ComedyFest!
